Q.01. Often
our printed products have accumulative errors; the repeat is not exact. What do
we do?
Q.02.
Must we run the first pass of the web on the Servo 3000 digital re-register
system?
Q.03. Can we use the Servo 3000 for the first pass on the web?
Q.04. Are there any mechanical
modifications made on the press?
Q.05. We run all types of
materials and different thicknesses - any problems?
Q.06. How
fast can you move the Servo 3000 digital re-register system from press to
press?
Q.07.
We don't need a portable system. What about a fixed installation on our existing
press? The cost should be lower!
Q.08. Is the
Servo 3000 digital re-register system hard to learn or use?
Q.09. Is
this a new product for Rotary Technologies ?
Q.10. Is
there a warranty?
Q.11. Do you offer any
performance guarantee that the system will perform as stated?
Q.12. Can
we install the Servo 3000 digital re-register system ourselves?
Q.13. Where can we seen a unit
running?
Q.14.
Does Rotary have any references?
Q.15. Why are we now just
hearing about Rotary?
Q.16.
Our plant has Flexo and Business Forms equipment. Can the Servo 3000 be used on
both types of equipment?
Q.17. What makes the Servo 3000
digital re-register better that your competition?
Q.
Often our printed products have accumulative errors; the repeat is not
exact. What do we do?
A.01. The Servo 3000
Micro Processor eliminates this type of error. Operating up to 100,000 pulses
per cylinder revolution, the Servo 3000 Micro Processor quickly calculates the
current web position making the adjustment needed to maintain perfect
registration for that print revolution. The system then disregards this
information and recalculates for the next repeat of the cylinder.

Q. Must
we run the first pass of the web on the Servo 3000 digital re-register
system?
A.02. No. The Servo 3000 digital
re-register system may be used just for re-registering the web on second pass
printing for offline applications. Or there may be a time when rolls of
pre-printed product are supplied from resources other than your own. In either
case, the Servo 3000 digital re-register system will perform as if the
pre-printed rolls were produced on the same press. return
Q. Can
we use the Servo 3000 for the first pass on the
web?
A.03. Yes. In fact the Servo 3000 controls
the web better than most original infeed - pacing systems. Since it is 100%
digital and servo driven, users can expect to have better color registration on
first pass printing. The increased performance is achieved by eliminating the
infeed gear train and the existing infeed/pacing cylinder. Gears wear and the
same is true for gear boxes as over time they develop backlash.
The infeed cylinder on the Servo 3000 is oversized and plasma coated providing
the greatest degree of paper wrap to stop web slippage on the infeed cylinder. return
Q. Are there
any mechanical modifications made on the press?
A.04.
No. Your current press configuration remains intact. The only change
will be mounting a set of brackets (not included) to mount the Servo 3000 on
your press or off-line machine. In addition to mounting the hardware, an encoder
is mounted on your press supplying a reference to the Servo 3000 digital
re-register system. Other than supplying power, you are done. Remember, the
Servo 3000 is true plug and play. return
Q. We run
all types of materials and different thicknesses - any
problems?
A.05. No. In fact many users use the
Servo 3000 to run many un-supported materials on their press (i.e. film.) This
is accomplished because the Servo 3000's servo drive responds faster than
mechanical driven systems omitting torque errors. return
Q. How fast can you move the Servo 3000
digital re-register system from press to
press?
A.06. In a matter of minutes. . . simply
unplug the power supply, disconnect the the encoder input line from the encoder
(Quick Change Type - no tools needed), unmount the unit from your new mounting
brackets, and remove the Servo 3000. The Servo 3000 is supplied with lift eye
bolts for easy removal. return
Q. We don't
need a portable system. What about a fixed installation on our existing press?
The cost should be lower!
A.07. One would think
so, but this is not the case. On a fixed installation you are dealing with many
more variables; 1. mounting hardware, 2. press down time creating loss of
income, 3. installation time, 4. current condition of the existing press, and 5.
unitization of the assets.
If any number between 1 and 4 goes
wrong, you can start multiplying X by the remaining values. From our own and
other companies' experiences, there is no savings on fixed versus portable
installations. And there is an unseen cost of what could happen if the unit
failed for whatever reason. Now your press can not even be used to produce first
pass printing because it has been modified to accept a reregister
system.
With a portable system, you just simply re-web the
press and run it as you did before anything had been removed of
modified.
Portability means 100% asset unitization by being
able to move it to any machine in your plant for any application and for any
job. return
Q. Is the
Servo 3000 digital re-register system hard to learn or
use?
A.08. No. By far it is the easiest system
in the world to use. The operator's menus are icon driven with a host of preset
commands that are self explanatory. We say if a "salesperson" can set it up and
run it, it must be easy. return
Q. Is this a
new product for Rotary Technologies?
A.09. We
have been developing and manufacturing re-register systems since 1976. We also
have an expendable line of products which may be seen in our catalog.
return
Q. Is
there a warranty?
A.10. The Servo 3000 is
warranted for one year from the date of shipment. This includes our own
manufactured parts and parts supplied from outside sources included in our
system. return
Q.
Do you offer a performance guarantee that the system will perform as
advertised?
A.11. Yes. We even add a
performance guarantee in our sale's contract. It states that if the Servo 3000
digital re-register fails to perform as promised, simply return it for a full
refund. return
Q.Can
we install the Servo 3000 digital re-register system
ourselves?
A.12. Rotary's installation and
training is appropriately 8 hour of floor time. The base unit is usually mounted
on the press in advance by your company. This allows more time for operator
training.
You may, however, elect to install the unit
yourself. Before such an undertaking, we insist that your company sends a key
employee to our plant to be certified on our system.
return
Q.
Where can we see a unit
running?
A.13. We try to have a unit on our
floor for demonstration purposes, however, this may not be the case. If we have
a unit, we will give you an approximate lead time for a demonstration. return
Q. Does
Rotary have any references?
A.14. Yes. If you
require references, we will supply references which closely match the type of
work your plant produces. return
Q. Why are we now just hearing about
Rotary?
A.15. More than likely you have and
just did not know it was Rotary Technologies. Rotary supplies many QEMs with our
equipment to be incorporated into their own. In addition, many of our sales'
agents have requested that we change the operators' menus to reflect the unit as
their own. return
Q. Our plant has Flexo and Business Forms
equipment. Can the Servo 3000 digital re-register be used on both types of
equipment?
A.16. One unit has many
applications. To gain the greatest flexibly, the unit should be purchased for
the widest web width. Current models are for 10, 16, 20 1/2 inch webs. return
Q. What makes the Servo 3000 digital re-register
better than your competition?
A.17. Our
software is written by our own programmers. We are in the graphic arts business,
therefore, our software is specifically for this purpose. It is so unique that
we have a U.S. patent pending. It is not a canned routine program that others
can claim.
The design of our system (hardware) is built to be used
everyday in the manufacturing processes. Side frames, bearings, idlers, and the
infeed cylinder demonstrates the durability of the Servo 3000 digital
re-register system. Components, which we incorporate into our system far exceed
our requirements. Yes, it may cost a little more, but our peace of mind, knowing
that you have the "best system," is our way of keeping you a satisfied customer.
